Basic knowledge

The playing field is rectangular (91.4m long × 55m wide). The field is divided into two halves with a center line in the middle.
Parallel to the center line are two lines drawn 22.9 m from the backline. They are called “23m line”.
Semi-circle with a radius of 14.63m from the central point in the goal post is called the “shooting circle”.

Game time

The game is divided into four 15-minute quarters, and played for a total of 60 minutes.
Between the 1st and 2nd quarters, and between the 3rd and 4th quarter, there is a 2-minute break. Between the 2nd quarter and 3rd quarter, the break is 10 minutes long and it is called “half-time”.

A hockey game is played by a total of 11 players in each team, which consists of 1 goal keeper and 10 field players.

The orthodox formation is 3FW – 3MF – 3FB – 1GK, but there is no particular rule that has to be followed,
and each team can decide on its own formation as it likes.

To score a goal, the player must shoot within the semi-circular shooting circle and that shot must successfully cross the goal line in order to be considered as a “goal in”.
